In summer of 2021, CaHPSA launched the very first summer internship.
The four-week, virtual internship was created to provide a safe space for students (undergraduate and recent graduated students) to learn about different work that is done revolving around health policy and advocacy.
The main goal of the internship was to help students learn the different ways they could be involved in their community, and to help students feel empowered to use their voice to curate change. Due to the positive feedback from the first cohort, the internship continued into summer of 2022. Students learn from different guest speakers, and network with other like-minded students. At the end of the internship, students present an end of internship presentation, sharing what they learned.
Our goal is to continue to offer this summer internship for years to come. This internship would have not been possible without the commitment and dedication of our previous CaHPSA intermn Lia Lopez and current CaHPSA Coordinator Yesenia Buenrostro Ramirez.
