Growing up in Inglewood, CA, in low socio-economic background, healthcare was a privilege for Olaya’s family and herself. They did not have reliable healthcare insurance, which found them resorting to the nearest county emergency room, which was a two-hour bus ride to and from the hospital. Now that Olaya has reliable healthcare and sees the difference in care she gets and being able to stay on top of her health, she wants to advocate and raise awareness for those in our communities who do not have health insurance. Olaya joined CaPA to give back to society and be amongst those who share the same values and social responsibility as she does. CaPA has become a family of hers, and she is delighted to be a board member. In her free time, she enjoys trying out various cuisines and exploring Los Angeles with her mom.
